Last year’s fundraising events
Last year OXAB raised money in Michaelmas term by a raffle with gifts generously donated from local companies as well as by serving cocktails at bops. We also received a generous donation from Magdalen College. Our biggest event was the auction of promises in Hilary term. This event was great fun and raised over £1000, all in all a really successful night. We had a jazz band playing, a professional auctioneer, free cocktails and loads of fantastic items to bid for. There was everything from theatre tickets to restaurant vouchers, blues rowers, champagne and even a goldfish!
Want to get involved?
This year we will be holding the same events but we are also keen to get past volunteers involved. Don’t panic! You don’t need to spend loads of time organising a big event. Even just putting a motion to your JCR or charities fund can make a big difference. We have a ready prepared motion that you can adapt to suit your college. Also, try speaking to your JCR Charities Officer about the possibilities of getting donations.
If you want to organise an event to fundraise for projects in the homes and centres that you visited we can also help. This could be a small event such as a bar quiz, video evening, or selling cocktails or sandwich toasties at bops. You may even want to organise a party or concert in aid of OXAB. We would be happy to publicise any event that you organise on our website and by email. We can also help you if you need any posters to be made as well as distributing them around colleges.
