Firstly, thank you for taking interest in OXAB’s activities. If you would like to visit the Balkans with OXAB this page provides all the forms you need to fill in before you go. It’s a good idea to have a look at our checklist for a step-by-step guide to joining an OXAB trip.
Once you have decided to come out on a trip (having been to at least one meeting) it is necessary to complete the application forms below and return them to us at a Sunday meeting with a cheque for £20 payable to OXAB. This £20 is a deposit, refundable with the receipt of your Trip Report (250-750 words) before 2nd week of the term after your trip. Failure to submit a holiday report will result in us spending your money on one of our projects in the Balkans… so it’s good either way!
There are several forms that need completing and returning before the end of term: the application form, the Criminal Records Bureau disclosure form and the reference from one of your tutors. You must also read the child protection policy. Every volunteer also needs to go through police checks. Many more details are below.

Every OXAB volunteer must now be checked by the Criminal Record’s Bureau (CRB). This entails filling in a CRB form that must be collected from a volunteer meeting held on Sundays at 7pm Several proof of identity and address documents are required, and we must see the original documents, and you should also bring a photocopy of the documents as well. The form must be checked and signed by Romilly Moses who should be at each meeting. More advice and information is contained in the CRB diclosure form, which can be downloaded above. Required documents include one of the following:
- Passport
- Driving License
- Original Birth Certificate
Other required documents include (bring as many as possible, you will need at least 2):
- Bank Statement (less than 3 months old)
- Utility Bill
- TV Licence
- Credit/Store Card Bills
- NHS Card
- Addressed Payslip
- Exam Certificate (eg GCSE, A-level)

info@oxab.org.uk or ask at the volunteer meeting. If you have already been CRB checked for something else, we need to see the original letter that you received from CRB (not a photocopy). Having seen this we would then not need to check you again.
